Iron Mustang Wrestling is a K-6 Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco Club serving the Northern Metro area.

Iron Mustang Wrestling is a K-6 Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco Club serving the Mounds View School District.

We are committed to helping the youth wrestling in the area for Irondale or Mounds View High School.

We will concentrate on all three styles of amateur wrestling; January to April is Folkstyle (the style used in High School and Collegiate), and Freestyle and Greco-Roman (The Olympic styles) in the spring.

Folkstyle is the style used in Junior Highs, High Schools and Colleges. This style will be taught during the winter months coinciding with the typical Folkstyle season for high schools. Begins the first week of January. (See home page)

Freestyle and Greco-Roman are the two styles used in the Olympics and internationally. The USA has a large contingency of youth that participate in these styles throughout the spring and summer. All three styles share a very common thread with Freestyle and Folkstyle being very similar other than the scoring system. Greco-Roman differs in that all wrestling is done with upper body holds in which the wrestlers are not allowed to use or grab their opponents legs.

Wrestling is the world’s oldest sport and has a deep rooted history throughout the world. The physical and mental skills taught in this sport are extremely valuable to kids in modern society. The concepts of hard work, discipline, commitment and the improvement of self-esteem are all examples of the character building within the sport of wrestling.
